In the same family ownership for over 26 years ‘Flair’ has been lovingly maintained and improved through 2 generations. In recent years her owners have treated her to an extensive refit. She presents in truly immaculate condition ready to create lifetime memories for the next generation of owners.
One of the most successful and Iconic NZ production boats ever the Salthouse Corsair MKII remains as popular today as when first released. With an efficient and sea-kindly hull design with a reputation for excellent handling, the Corsair MKII is appreciated by novice and highly experienced boaters alike. The innovative aft cabin layout provides unparalleled volume and accommodation in a 12m vessel (as well as the great separation between parents and the kids!).
Virtually no part of Flair, interior or exterior, was left untouched during her refit. All interior upholstery, carpets, linings and woodwork were replaced or refreshed. A new stove and additional refrigeration were fitted. A full bathroom upgrades completed along with all new covers, flybridge upholstery, new U-Dek flooring to the cockpit sole along with some clever removable cockpit side seats to enhance the social layout of the vessel. Around 2010 the exterior (from deck up) was repainted, and a stylish, well-designed glass enclosed hardtop was added to the raised helm area providing shelter in all conditions.
Whilst getting carried away with the work, the owners retired the original 165hp engines and drives and replaced them with 230hp KAD42 Volvo units and uprated 290 series drive units. The engines were fully inspected and overhauled as necessary prior to installation. With 40% more power and massive low-end torque from the new supercharged/turbocharged powerplants, Flair now offer blistering acceleration with comfortable and economical cruising anywhere from 19 to 27 knots with 32 knot sprint capability.
Priced well below what it would take to recreate a Corsair of this standard and with a 12m berth available, Flair offers great value and must be viewed to be appreciated.
